Market Planning Necessities

County Website – The official website of Forsyth County, Georgia.

County Code – The official municipal code for the county (please check with the county for any recent changes or modifications to the code).

Business License and Renewal Information – A county maintained website for obtaining and renewing business licenses in the county.

Comprehensive Plan – The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to guide the intensity, location and timing of development and to ensure compatibility with existing uses, infrastructure and economic trends while protecting natural and cultural resources.

Tax Assessor’s Office - The Board of Tax Assessors is responsible for determining what real and personal property is subject to taxation in Forsyth County, estimating the market value and administration of the various types of homestead and property tax exemptions.

Georgia Power - An investor-owned, tax-paying utility that serves 2.25 million customers in all but four of Georgia's 159 counties. The largest of four electric utilities that make up Southern Company, Georgia Power, has been providing electricity to Georgia for more than a century at rates well below the national average.

Sawnee Electric Membership – A non-profit, member owned electric cooperative that prides itself on providing reliable, competitively priced electric service.  Sawnee has a diverse seven county service territory northeast of Atlanta and provides dependable electricity to over 150,000 members. 

Atlanta Gas Light - The eighth largest natural gas distribution utility in the United States and the largest in the Southeast. When Georgia’s natural gas market was deregulated in 1998, our business changed. We no longer sell natural gas directly to customers. Instead, we operate and maintain the gas pipes, read meters, maintain the natural gas infrastructure and distribute gas to certified marketers, who in turn sell gas to customers.

City of Cumming Water - To provide the citizens of Cumming with an abundant supply of high-quality potable water, to collect and treat the wastewater generated and return it to the surface water system from which it originated, and to be good stewards of water and other natural resources in our area.

Water & Sewer Service - The Water and Sewer Department provides Forsyth County with the highest quality of water and sewer service through progressive leadership and environmental stewardship.

The First Stop Business Information Center - Provides the small business owner and the prospective entrepreneur with a central point of information and contacts for state regulatory requirements for operating a small business. The primary objective of the center is to facilitate sustainable small business development in Georgia by offering a central location for determination of what licenses and permits must be obtained and maintained by individuals and businesses conducting their enterprises in our great state.

Annual Traffic Counts - Traffic volumes for each of Georgia's 159 counties are counted on an annual basis.
