Orange County Small Business Development Center -   Whether it's expanding your growing business or launching a start-up company, the Orange County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is here to help you Advance Your Business.  They offer no-charge, personalized business assistance in a confidential, one-on-one setting, and team business consulting. You can also Advance Your Business through their valuable, low-cost seminars that cover such important topics as Access to Capital, Quickbooks, Employment Law, Marketing, Government Contracting, Web Technology, and Writing a Business Plan -- taught by the center's professional business consultants and industry experts.

Orange County Department of Public Works -  includes the following core businesses: OC Engineering, OC Planning, and OC Facilities. OC Public Works serves the public through the following: flood control;  providing the public with highways and streets by constructing, maintaining, and managing a quality road system in unincorporated areas and cities that contract with our department for services; support services and facilities operations and planning, environmental analysis, zoning, grading and building services in unincorporated areas.

Orange County Clerk Recorder  -  handles property records, marriage licenses and ceremonies, birth and death certificates, and many other services.  Also oversees the Orange County Archives, where materials detailing the history of Orange County can be found.

Orange County Land Use Planning -   is responsible for the timely and efficient processing of development project submittals while ensuring consistency with all Planning, Zoning and Environmental regulations specific to the area and type of development.  They serve the general public, applicants, and other County Departments in an efficient and fair manner to ensure consistency with our general plan, zoning and land use requirements mandated by local ordinances, State and Federal law.

Orange County Starting a Business  – When starting a new business, there are many important decisions to make and many rules and procedures that must be addressed.  The County is a business-friendly agency that supports a diverse economy with a variety of services.  You can find information about permits and licenses, learn how to register a fictitious business name, or get help complying with environmental rules.

Orange County Tax Collector  - is responsible for collecting taxes on all secured and unsecured property in Orange County. This office is also responsible for the sale of property subject to the "power to sell," formerly known as delinquent tax deeded property. In addition to collecting Annual Racehorse Taxes, Transient Occupancy Taxes, and Public Defender judgments, the Tax Collector also provides remittance processing services, information system services, and departmental administrative support.

Orange County Geomatics and Land Information Systems - This site has been developed to educate, assist and respond to the public. Orange County Environmental Health - The goal of the Food Protection Program is to ensure that the food sold and served in Orange County is safe, wholesome, properly labeled and advertised, and produced under sanitary conditions. Specialists enforce the requirements contained in the California Retail Food Code which is part of the California Health and Safety Code.

The California Regional Economies Project is currently the lead mechanism for these efforts.

Small Business Award Program  – The annual CoolCalifornia Small Business Award Program is administered by the California Air Resources Board.  The program recognizes small California businesses and organizations (under 100 employees) that have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made notable, voluntary achievements towards reducing their climate impact.

Small Business Financial Resources - The first thing every small business interested in state and federal stimulus projects should know is you are NOT too late. Most of the money designated for federal stimulus projects is still available and will be distributed over the next two years. Furthermore, the stimulus funding is divided into 10 general categories, across multiple agencies, all with varying timelines. Rural Development Business and Cooperative Program - works in partnership with the private sector and community-based organizations to provide financial assistance and business planning. Technical assistance is also provided to rural businesses and cooperatives.  Programs include Business and Industry (B&I) Guaranteed Loans, Intermediary Re lending Program Loans, Rural Business Enterprise Grants, Rural Economic Development Loans and Grants, and Rural Cooperative Development Grants.

Central California Small Business Development Center (CCSBDC) – Grow your business here.  Programs are part of the United States Small Business Administration's national network of SBDC’s.  As such, the programs leverage local, state and federal dollars to strengthen small businesses, and thus, positively impact the state's economy.  The SBDC’s facilitate the success of small business through business management counseling and training, resulting in economic impacts such as the creation and retention of jobs increases in sales and profits, new business starts and more.

The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) protects consumers by licensing and regulating California's construction industry. There are more than 310,000 licensed contractors in the state, in 43 different licensing classifications. In addition to educating consumers about contractors and construction law, CSLB activities include administering examinations to test prospective licensees, issuing licenses, investigating complaints against licensed and unlicensed contractors, issuing citations, suspending or revoking licenses, and seeking administrative, criminal, and civil sanctions against violators.
